Seatbelt shirt aims to fool police

This year's most stupid accessory award goes to: the seatbelt shirt from China which has a diagonal black stripe across it that makes it look as though you are wearing your seatbelt when you're daft enough not to.
The shirts cost between NZ$6.70 and NZ$9.60.
Frankly we wouldn't been seen dead in one, which is exactly what could happen if you wear one instead of the belt it's supposed to resemble.
CarNewsChina.com reports police were cracking down on the wearing of safety belts following a number of high profile accidents where occupants were killed after they were launched through car windows.
The report gave no indication of big a problem the non-wearing of seatbelts is, but added drivers were hoping the shirts would fool a busy policeman when he looks quickly inside.
Police said that while not wearing a safety belt was breaking the law, wearing the shirt was not.
The penalty for not wearing a safety belt is 50 yuan (NZ$9.50) and a deduction of two points, out of 12, of the driver’s licence.

You should get a was bigger fine than $9.50.

Another reason that its stupid is that if somone that is wearing the top gets in a car crash could die.
I think this Shirt is stupid. Why not just wear the actual seat belt? It isn't that annoying to wear one. I would much rather wear the seat belt than that top. Wearing a seat belt is much safer cause if you crash you will have more injuries if wearing the top. In my opinion the shirt should be taken off the market.

ReplyDeletethe seatbelt tshirt is a really dum idea cause if u were wearing the tshirt u could be in a bad crash that can end up dying and the fine for not wearing a seatbelt should be put up to $100
ReplyDeleteI think that this is a stupid prank and shouldnt be aloud to use. It is unsafe to not wear a seatbelt ahd the creator of this should get fined. Are police letting people wear the shirt while driving or are they banning it only in certain countries?? Why cant people just wear a actual seatbelt?? I predict that if police dont ban it soon there will be many death cause of this shirt.
ReplyDeleteThey are just doing this so that they don't have to wear their seat belt witch is pretty stupid if you ask me because they are just deceiving the rules that have been put their to save there lives. Is it really that hard to put a seat belt on? it only takes about two seconds and then you have it on. the fine is also a ridiculously low price if you ask me that is about half a days work. it should be at the least twenty dollars.
ReplyDeleteIt's a really stupid idea if you ask me because we wear seatbelts for a good reason. Because if we didn't, for one we would be breaking the law, and we would also be putting ourselves in danger. I would never buy or wear one of those T-shirts its not worth my life.

It should be around $50-$100 if you are risking your life.
I don't really care if people are wearing the t-shirt because if they die its there problem!
i think this is stupid and there is no point to risk your life to not wear a seatbelt over a t-shirt.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a sill design because it is breaking the law and putting your life in to danger. If you want to wear one they can but thats their life in danger. The fine should be raised much much higher. Overall it is definitely the stupidest design ever made!

the shirt is a stupid idea and it can cost your life, if you wear the shirt you can die in a crash but if you wear your seatbelt it can save your life and for the same price for the shirt and the cost of the fine theres no point.
